Here’s a first…

…update on the piece I’m working on for my friends Glenda, Rachel, Kendra, and Jon.  It’s a piece for an ensemble they’re calling oboe band: two oboes, english horn, and bassoon.  I was skeptical at first, but I think I’m sold now.  Here are the first three pages of the score to Come, along with a sound file to give you a little bit of an idea what it’ll sound like:

Caveat on the sound file: it’s the electronic playback deal that Finale puts out; not MIDI, but not much better.  Please take it with a grain of salt!

    I once had a piece named “come”…

Here are some problems with your title:

“What’s that you’ve got in your hand?” “Come.”

“What’s that you just spilled on the floor?” “Come.”

“What do you have spread all across your stand?” “Come.”

“Hey guys, sorry I’m late for the rehearsal…” “It’s ok Jason, but did your bring ‘Come’, because I have none?”

“Great job Jason, ‘Come’ is something every composer should on their computer screen and in their ears.”

“The NYTimes is proud to review Jason’s ‘Come’ which was smooth, silky, and creamy. Although at some moments it spread itself too thin, in the end it swam through to victory. This piece is expected to fully mature after nine months.”

“…and now I’m going to give a talk about the creation of process of ‘Come’ “.

    “Come, Come, Come!”
